A Novak Djokovic superfan sparked controversy with comments about Jannik Sinner, leading to criticism from various figures, including Serena Williams’ former coach, Rennae Stubbs. The former Australian player called the fan a “jock sniffer” and a “wannabe nobody.”

Djokovic’s fan, who goes by Pavvy G on X (formerly Twitter), has been vocal about his disapproval of how authorities handled Jannik Sinner’s doping controversy, a stance shared by Nick Kyrgios with whom he has interacted several times.Recently, after Sinner dedicated his US Open title to his late aunt, Pavvy G made a now-deleted post questioning Sinner’s choice to fulfill “sponsors obligations” by playing tennis while his aunt was ill.

This controversial comment led to severe backlash from fans, who criticized his attack on the Italian player. Tennis journalist Wertheim said:

“This is a legit question, not limited to tennis….what level of responsibility – if any – do today’s athletes bear w/r/t their more prominent/vocal/offensive stans? …Would a public repudiation to this kind of rot do any good?”

Notably, Djokovic has acknowledged Pavvy G as his fan during a Wimbledon interview and he has also been seated in the Serb’s box.Former doubles World No. 1 Stubbs, who has trained the likes of Eugenie Bouchard and Serena Williams, also weighed in on the situation by retweeting Wertheim’s post and writing that Pavvy G used to treat her well until she criticized his favorite player. She wrote on X:

“If i had a dollar! 😂 also that guy is the epitome of a jock sniffer. He would write to me on twitter so nicely & admiringly, then when i said something about his fav player that he didn’t like, i became enemy #1, the devil. He is a wanna be nobody, who seeks attention on X.”

Upon receiving criticism from known personalities of the tennis world like Jon Wertheim and Serena Williams’ ex-coach Rennae Stubbs, Pavvy G said that the “establishment” was trying to silence him.

The Novak Djokovic fan Pavvy G said in response to criticism:

“When the establishment pull out Jon Wertheim and Rennae Stubbs to try and silence you, you know you are onto something. Arrange all the pile ons and bullying against you want, it may work with others, but it doesn’t intimidate me, it simply inspires me to investigate more.”

Jannik Sinner has tried to shut out the noise from outside and concentrate on his game on-court. He achieved one of his career’s biggest successes soon after the news about his failed doping test came out by winning the US Open. Next up for the Italian is the China Open.
