Man City star Jack Grealish has taken to social media for the first time since withdrawing from Lee Carsley’s latest England squad.
The 29-year-old was one of eight players who decided to walk out on Carsley’s last squad as interim England manager for their UEFA Nations League games against Greece and the Republic of Ireland.
Grealish has missed Man City’s last six games across all competitions after picking up a training injury ahead of their 5-0 Champions League win over Sparta Prague.
Speaking ahead of their Premier League clash with Brighton, Pep Guardiola was unhappy with Carsley’s decision to call Grealish up to the national team.
“National teams always play in this period and I’m always pleased for players to go – when they are fit and they haven’t struggled for the past one, two, three or four weeks,” said Guardiola.
“In 17 days he didn’t train once. Today was the first training and he trained for 20 minutes. That is the reality.“

The Premier League champions have lost four consecutive games across all competitions for the first time since Guardiola took charge.
City are slipping further behind Liverpool at the top of the table, with the gap now at five points after their 2-1 defeat to Brighton on Saturday (November 9).
Grealish has the next couple of days to rest up and recuperate now that he’s no longer with England, but more importantly, he gets to spend time with his daughter.
The left-winger took to Instagram to post an image of him and his daughter spending valuable time together ahead of a hectic festive period.
He may only have one Premier League goal involvement so far this season but before his injury, Grealish had found himself back in Guardiola’s good books after a stop-and-start 2024-24 campaign.
City will be hoping to put this mini-crisis behind them as they prepare for a Premier League clash with Tottenham once the international break is over.
