Man City given major Jack Grealish injury update as angry Pep Guardiola proven right in England row
Pep Guardiola reacted angrily to England’s decision to call up Jack Grealish for the November internationals, despite the Manchester City boss insisting his winger is injured.
Jack Grealish has withdrawn from the England squad to face Greece and the Republic of Ireland this week, just as Pep Guardiola insisted he would.
Grealish was a surprise inclusion in Lee Carsley’s final squad as interim manager, with Guardiola previously ruling his winger out until after the international break. In response to the call-up, Guardiola gave an angry press conference where he insisted Grealish was unfit and that England did not contact City about their plans to include him in their squad.
Carsley had also said that England will assess Grealish upon his arrival to St George’s Park on Monday, and now City have been given an answer over his condition.
Guardiola clarified after defeat at Brighton that Grealish remained ‘injured’, including him in their long list of injured players .
In an update on Monday, England said: “Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers has received his first senior call up.
“Jarrod Bowen and Jarrad Branthwaite along with the uncapped Tino Livramento and James Trafford have also been added to Lee Carsley’s squad.
