Kaiju No. 8 | Official Trailer
If you thought 2023 was a damn good year for anime, just wait for 2024. Nearly every major series is set to make its grand return, alongside theatrical releases and new imaginings of the classics. You may be thinking that anime can’t get any better following last year’s stellar Jujutsu Kaisen season 2, but the trailers for this year’s slate have already blown me away. One Piece is boasting a new animation style, Dragon Ball is preparing its grand return, and Haikyuu!! is gearing up for a finale on film.
This year will also see the debut of the action-packed Kaiju No. 8, the cozy cooking manga Delicious in Dungeon, and yet another adaptation of Junji Ito’s Uzumak. If that wasn’t enough, Demon Slayer will return alongside My Hero Academia, Bleach, Blue Lock, and Chainsaw Man. If there was ever a year in contention for the best year in anime history, 2024 is absolutely stepping up to the plate. Check out our most anticipated anime of 2024 below.

Debuting a flashy new animation style and hopping right into an adaptation of the manga’s current arc, the team behind the celebrated pirate series is steam-rolling into season 21 looking the best the series ever has.

Easily one of the most-anticipated releases of the year, Chainsaw Man is foregoing season 2 (for now) to give the next emotional arc of the series its own feature film. So far, the story follows a teenager who is given the power to sprout chainsaws out of his head and arms. Insecure and confused, his first attempt at love in the Reze arc doesn’t go exactly as planned.

Junji Ito’s horror masterpiece Uzumaki will get its umpteenth adaptation in 2024, as Adult Swim attempts another crack at this celebrated and horrifying classic. Sticking to the original mangaka’s art style and black-and-white illustrations, the latest trailer—which shows people who become eerily obsessed with spirals—just may have what it takes to do the story justice.

Dragon Ball Daima will feature Goku like never before in a new story by series creator Akira Toriyama—who sends the hero back to his time as a youth. Paying tribute to Dragon Ball’s 40th anniversary, Daima is set to tell an original story outside of the current continuity, reimagining the hit series for a new audience while still exciting die-hard fans.
