“Aman hid from Djokovic that he demolished tennis courts”
“It is obvious that, during the negotiations with Novak regarding the partnership, Aman, knowingly or unknowingly, hid from him some important facts that he and his team were not aware of, and with which they should be familiar when making such business decisions,” they state from Initiatives to return the city hotel “Sveti Stefan” to state ownership
The initiative to return the city hotel “Sveti Stefan” to state ownership told world number one racketeer Novak Djokovic that Aman Resorts knowingly or unknowingly hid important facts from him when concluding the contract.
“Recently, news appeared in the media that Novak Đoković became a Global Wellness Advisor for the company Aman Resorts. We wish the world’s best tennis player of all time and great philanthropist Novak, who got married on Sveti Stefan, all the best in whatever work he does. We are happy about his success, as always, because he made us happy when we were rooting for him with all our hearts, and we will always root for him. However, it is obvious that Aman, knowingly or unknowingly, hid from him some important facts that he and his team were not aware of, and which they should be aware of when making such business decisions, during negotiations with Novak regarding the partnership. First, Novak and his team had to know that Adriatic Properties, the tenant of Svetog Stefan, with the knowledge and consent of Aman management, around 2009, demolished two tennis courts in front of Svetog Stefan, and later built two illegal buildings on them, which to this day not legalized: laundry room and administration building. Fortunately, there are photos and postcards showing these fields from the time before the demolition, which can easily be compared with the current state”, they state in an open letter submitted to “Vijesti”.
Even if these facilities, as they add, have been legalized to this day, this speaks of the attitude of the Aman management at the time towards tennis as a sport and as well as elite tourism in which there is no place for tennis as a recreational sport.
“In addition, many locals, both children and the elderly, were denied the opportunity to play tennis on these courts. Today, Sveti Stefan has several excellent young talents who, unfortunately, cannot train tennis in their place. Secondly, a similar situation happened with the summer stage, which was abolished and put out of action by the decision of Adriatic Properties, with the knowledge and consent of Aman management, with the aim of demolishing it as well, in accordance with the UT conditions issued later to the tenant (UT conditions no. 1062- 901/12 of April 12.04.2019, 1982). After that, Robert de Niro, a famous actor and theater lover, came to Sveti Stefan to open a Nobu restaurant, but then, similarly to Novak now, no one told him that right next to, right next to the then Nobu, there was a summer stage from XNUMX year, where performances were held as part of the Grad Theater festival until recently, but which was shut down as planned due to demolition. Even if the building permit is completely legal, from the point of view of the tenant and Amman, this speaks of their relationship to culture and art. Just as many tennis players were denied to play tennis in the beautiful surroundings in front of St. Stephen’s, so many actors, colleagues of Mr. De Niro, were denied to perform on stage in front of St. Stephen’s,” the letter points out and adds:
“Also, we believe that Novak and his team must be aware of the fact that the ‘Cultural Landscape of St. Stephen’ was selected among the 7 most endangered European heritage sites for 2023, organized by Europa Nostra and the Institute of the European Investment Bank, in large part due to the above-mentioned reasons. as well as others that we will mention on another occasion (such as the demolition of one of the royal buildings from 1936, the project of which is still in the Museum of Yugoslavia in Belgrade). If the Aman Resorts company believes that their management did not know about the above-mentioned events, especially about the demolition of the grounds and the closing of the theater for demolition, which is hardly possible considering their involvement in the project of leasing St. Stephen’s from the very beginning of 2007, let it be publicly fences by announcement with adequate explanation. If there really was an oversight, let them apologize to us and to their clients and business partners, in front of whom they present themselves as a reputable company that takes care of culture and sports. We will accept any sincere apology. Once again, we wish Novak Đoković much success and new feats on the field”, the letter concludes.
