Manchester City and England star Jack Grealish confirmed this summer that he and his partner Sasha Attwood are expecting a baby
Jack Grealish’s England return clearly meant a lot to him and his pregnant girlfriend.
The Manchester City star ended his exile in style on Saturday, scoring and playing superbly in a tense trip to the Republic of Ireland, where he was booed during Lee Carsley’s first game as interim manager. Jack, who represented the Bhoys in Green at under-21 level, was given a hot reception after switching his allegiance to England but it didn’t put him off his stride.
The star and Declan Rice, who won three caps for Ireland in 2018 before deciding to play for his country of birth, both got a goal to rile up the Dublin crowd. Sasha Attwood, the footballer’s childhood, shared a photo of the celebrating attacker with his fingers in his ears and captioned the shot: “Proud of you” and added some love heart and applause emojis.
There wasn’t much of the way of clapping from the home crowd at the Aviva Stadium. Jack told ITV after “I think it was what me and Dec expected. Me and Dec both enjoyed our time playing here. I certainly did. I have a lot Irish in my family, so there’s no bad blood whatsoever from my side.”
The duo gave the stand-in boss the perfect start to life as the Three Lions’ interim manager. England were playing for the first time since losing the European Championship final in July, with Gareth Southgate walking away just two days after ahead of this Nations League campaign.
Jack, who celebrates his 29th birthday on Tuesday, clearly has a lot of support. The couple have been together throughout his professional career, with Sasha following him from his early time at Aston Villa before they left their hometown of Birmingham when the England star joined City for £100million in 2021.
She works as a model, advertising for brands including L’Oreal, House of Fraser, Pretty Little Thing and Boohoo. She has also been supporting Grealish through what was a difficult season in which he suffered several injuries before being left out of the England squad for Euro 2024.
Her man was left surprised by his omission, but his absence from the tournament has allowed him to help Attwood through her pregnancy. It is unknown when they are expecting their new baby to be born but shared the happy news with his team-mates in action in Germany.
Jack broke the news on his Instagram account, sharing a picture of himself hugging his girlfriend from behind, with both of their hands over her pregnancy bump. The Manchester City star was understandably delighted that he will welcome his first child to the world this year – and captioned the post by writing: “Life’s biggest blessing.”
