Aryna Sabalenka stormed to victory at Flushing Meadows, claiming her first US Open title with unstoppable force. After her triumph, she was spotted enjoying a picturesque vacation in Greece, spending time with her boyfriend Georgios Frangulis at the Acropolis and soaking up the sun with her sister. But while she was on the picturesque vacation, some fans were concerned about her lack of training, prompting Sabalenka to come up with a hilarious clarification that her leisure time was just a brief break before resuming training.

After winning the Cincinnati Open, Aryna Sabalenka went to Flushing Meadows as the clear favorite and she lived up to the expectations as she beat Jessica Pegula in the summit clash to win her first US Open title, dropping just one set in the entire competition.

Following that huge accomplishment, the Belarusian decided to take a little break as she shared joyful moments with her family. However, she still faced scrutiny from the fans and she had to provide clarity.“Forgot to tell you all! I’m back practicing long time ago lol,” Sabalenka wrote on X, making it clear that she was back preparing for the upcoming tournaments already.

Sabalenka has enjoyed her time away from the sport in the last week or so. On Instagram, the Belarusian shared a lot of highlights from her celebratory Greek getaway. Among the cherished moments, she posted a story featuring a picturesque pose with Georgios Frangulis at the iconic Acropolis of Athens. Additionally, she shared several selfies with her sister Tonechka, capturing their joyful time together against the stunning backdrop of Athens.

Following her US Open victory, Sabalenk is now scheduled to play at the China Open, which begins on September 26 at Beijing’s National Tennis Center, following her US Open victory. Her fight for the top position against World No. 1 Iga Swiatek depends on the outcome of this competition. Swiatek, has to defend 1000 points at the China Open and she can’t afford a dismal performance in tha tournament. For Sabalenka, on the other hand, 215 points are at stake.

Even though Sabalenka has won the US Open title, she is still hungry for the world number one position, as she revealed a few days ago.

Last year, Aryna Sabalenka ascended to world No. 1 for the first time after the US Open, only to be overtaken by Iga Swiatek at the WTA Finals. Swiatek finished as the year-end No. 1. Reflecting on her drive to reclaim the top spot, Sabalenka told the WTA Insider podcast, “I’m still hungry, for sure,” emphasizing her ongoing ambition and determination to reclaim and maintain the top spot.

She added, “Another goal for sure is to try to become world No.1 again. But I don’t want to talk about this goal. I’m just trying to keep improving myself and keep getting better every day.”
