Former Aston Villa skipper Jack Grealish was spotted silencing jeering Newcastle United fans following Man City’s 1-1 draw at St James’ Park
Despite Josko Gvardiol’s stylish first-half goal giving the champions an early lead, a penalty from Anthony Gordon levelled the score after half-time, leaving both teams unable to secure a win.
The draw leaves City on equal points with Arsenal after consecutive draws. It was a challenging day for Grealish, who found himself in the crosshairs of the home crowd.

The 29 year old England player is not well-liked by the Newcastle supporters due to a poorly timed dig at Miguel Almiron during drunken celebrations after winning the Premier League title in 2022.
When asked to share City’s secret to retaining the title, he joked: “There were two secrets – one, Riyad (Mahrez), take him off the pitch, as soon as possible. He played like Almiron.”, reports the Mirror.
Although Grealish later apologised for his comments, they didn’t sit well with Newcastle fans. After Saturday’s draw, he was taunted as he left the pitch and responded with a “shush” gesture, according to The Chronicle.
Clearly frustrated by the day’s events, he was quickly ushered away after reacting to the fans’ mockery before heading down the tunnel, leaving St James’ Park to celebrate a positive result.
Manchester City’s Mateo Kovacic reflected on the challenging match against Newcastle, conceding that a draw was a satisfactory outcome given the circumstances.
