Emma Raducanu sets comeback target despite two further withdrawals
Emma Raducanu reportedly remains optimistic about a return to court later this month despite having to withdraw from two more events due to a foot injury.
World No 57 Raducanu had initially planned a packed schedule for the Asian Swing, looking to surge back up the rankings after a disappointing early loss at the US Open.
Things started brightly with a run to the last eight of the Korea Open, but she was forced to retire injured during her quarter-final loss to Daria Kasatkina
Raducanu suffered a foot ligament injury in Seoul and was later forced to withdraw from both the China Open and the Wuhan Open, where she was set to play in qualifying.
In a statement at the time, she revealed that she hoped to “be back competing as soon as I can”.
However, she is now back in the UK and was photographed speaking to patients at Great Ormond Street Hospital in London this week – wearing a protective boot on her foot.
And it has now been confirmed that her return to WTA action has again been delayed, with the 21-year-old withdrawing from two events in China.

Raducanu will no longer play at the WTA 500 Ningbo Open, which will start next week, and will also miss the Guangzhou Open – a WTA 250-level event the week after.
However, she is planning to head back to Asia towards the end of the swing to play at the Hong Kong Open, which begins on October 28th.
Raducanu has automatically entered the main draw of the WTA 250 event, where she is set to be joined by the likes of Danielle Collins, Diana Shnaider, and Leylah Fernandez.
The 21-year-old is then planning to end her season by representing Great Britain at the Billie Jean King Cup Finals in Malaga.
Raducanu starred for Great Britain as they successfully sealed Finals qualification with a 3-1 victory against France back in April, with the star winning both of her singles rubbers.
Captain Anne Keothavong has again selected the world No 57 to be part of her squad, which also includes British No 1 Katie Boulter.
Great Britain will face Germany in a round of 16 tie on November 15th, and would then face defending champions Canada in the last eight should they prevail.
