Australia will take on Great Britain and a yet to be determined nation in Sydney in the third edition of the United Cup.

It could potentially see tennis power couple Alex de Minaur and Katie Boulter face off against each other in a mixed doubles rubber, although Matt Ebden is Australia’s designated doubles player.

The draw was conducted in Sydney on Monday by Lleyton Hewitt and Casey Dellacqua.

Hewitt laughed when GB was drawn, and then revealed de Minaur had jokingly warned him against doing so. Then they did it with quite literally the first draw.

“Just wait until he wakes up in Europe,” Hewitt quipped.

Not only does it put him on a collision course with Boulter, but also world No.19 Jack Draper, who dispatched him in straight sets in the US Open quarter final.

Omar Jasika is the other male player in the Australian team. Olivia Gadecki, Destanee Aiava and Ellen Perez are Australia’s female representatives.

Australia’s final opponent will be determined on November 19. The other unknown team has been drawn in Group A with the USA and Canada.

Each United Cup tie will consist of a men’s and women’s singles match, and a mixed doubles match. Each singles tie will be played by the top-ranked player in each team.

The top-ranked teams in each pool will qualify for the quarter-final, as will the best runner up in each city.
