Instead of Netflix creating a docuseries called Aaron Rodgers: Enigma, maybe they should consider one on Emma Raducanu. While the young tennis star might not generate the same off-court drama—she’s not outspokenly anti-vaccine, for instance—Raducanu has still been a divisive figure in the sports world. Some critics claim she appears more focused on securing sponsorship deals than improving her tennis game.

Whether those criticisms are true or not is hard to say. The fact is, Raducanu has been plagued by injuries over the last few years, making it difficult to assess how good she could be with consistent play. Since her remarkable 2021 US Open victory, which remains her only career title, she’s struggled to maintain form.

Despite the setbacks, the criticism hasn’t let up. Some even speculate that Raducanu might not mind the time away from tennis, using it to focus on endorsements instead. However, Raducanu wants people to understand her reality. In a recent interview with The Sun, she opened up about balancing her career and business commitments.

“I’m obviously very grateful and fortunate to have had certain experiences and opportunities, but I wasn’t prepared for the other things that inevitably take energy away from you,” Raducanu shared. “I think now I’m a lot more structured. I’ll say, ‘OK, I have one hour to talk about business, and the rest of the week is for training.’”

On a lighter note, tennis legend John McEnroe recently shared his thoughts on Andy Murray’s surprising decision to coach Novak Djokovic for the Australian Open. Speaking during his appearance on Served with Andy Roddick, McEnroe offered his trademark tongue-in-cheek commentary.

While McEnroe humorously suggested that Murray might just need a break from his four kids (McEnroe himself has six), he did express hope that the partnership would lead to a successful run in Melbourne. According to McEnroe, a deep Djokovic-Murray collaboration would be good for tennis, drawing more attention to the sport. However, if Djokovic exits in the early rounds, the intrigue ends. If he makes a deep run, fans will have plenty to watch.
