Mirra Andreeva shared a playful moment with her coach, Robert Lindstedt, after securing a victory at the World Tennis League against Elena Rybakina. On the final day of the competition, Andreeva and Aryna Sabalenka shared a lighthearted incident during their doubles match that left both players laughing on court, though the reason for their amusement remained unexplained.

In a post-match interview, Andreeva avoided giving details about the moment but focused on how much fun she had during the tournament. Lindstedt, on the other hand, praised the young Russian’s potential, predicting a bright future for her in Grand Slam tournaments as she continues her rise in the rankings.

“Having fun is my main goal,” said the 17-year-old Andreeva, who teamed up with Sabalenka, Sumit Nagal, and Jordan Thompson for the World Tennis League. Although their team reached the final, they were unable to secure the title after Nagal and Thompson were defeated in their matches. Despite this, the Sabalenka-Andreeva duo shone brightly, even managing a remarkable comeback in their doubles match against Rybakina and Caroline Garcia. Down 0-5, they saved three match points and triumphed in the tie-break. Andreeva then followed up with a singles victory over Rybakina, putting her team in a strong position heading into the men’s matches.

“Honestly, I play my best tennis when I’m having fun, that’s my main goal,” Andreeva explained. “That was my plan for today, and we definitely had fun playing doubles. I just tried to keep the same mindset for singles, but sometimes I try to keep it inside,” she added with a smile.

The teenager then briefly mentioned the humorous moment with Sabalenka, recalling how she nearly burst into laughter during their doubles match. “I don’t know if you noticed, but there was one point when I was close to laughing,” she said while sitting next to her coach, Lindstedt.

When Lindstedt was asked about his thoughts on Andreeva’s praise, he responded humorously, “I didn’t hear any credits, I just hear that she’s having fun,” causing Andreeva to laugh. He went on to commend her talent, saying, “She’s 17 years old and already ranked 16th in the world, so she’s definitely a contender for Grand Slams. It’s really fun to sit here and watch.”

Lindstedt continued jokingly, “I think she’s peaking now, and it’s only going to get tougher from here,” as Andreeva playfully gestured toward him. He concluded on a light note, saying, “It’s going to be very interesting to see how far she can go because she’s just a baby,” sparking more laughter between them.
