Newcastle United is reportedly eyeing a move for Manchester City’s Jack Grealish, potentially disrupting Aston Villa’s dream of reuniting with their former star.

Grealish left Villa Park in 2021 for a record-breaking £100 million move to Manchester City, becoming the most expensive British player in history. Despite helping City to silverware—including the Champions League, multiple Premier League titles, and an FA Cup—his form has not hit the same heights he reached at Villa.

Now 29, Grealish has only contributed one goal and one assist in 19 Premier League appearances this season. His future at the Etihad looks uncertain, with reports suggesting he could be sold as part of a summer rebuild.

Villa’s Rise Since Grealish’s Departure

Aston Villa have flourished since Grealish’s exit, reaching the Europa Conference League semifinals, finishing fourth in the Premier League, and earning a Champions League quarterfinal spot. They’re also in the FA Cup semifinals for the first time since 2015.

Villa’s recent signings—like Marcus Rashford, Marco Asensio, and Youri Tielemans—have helped solidify their status among England’s top clubs. Yet, Grealish remains a fan favorite, known for his creativity, flair, and game-changing ability, qualities many feel have been stifled in Guardiola’s system.

Spanish outlet Fichajes reports that Villa would be keen on a reunion—if the price is right.

Newcastle’s Interest

Newcastle, also pushing for European qualification, is monitoring the situation closely. According to Caught Offside, the Magpies are considering a move for the 39-time England international. Although they’re well-stocked on the left wing with Harvey Barnes and Anthony Gordon, Grealish’s versatility makes him an attractive option.

Should he leave Manchester City, where he’s under contract until 2027, Grealish is expected to fetch a far lower price than his original £100 million tag. A fresh start could also boost his chances of making England’s 2026 World Cup squad after being left out of Thomas Tuchel’s first lineup.
