Evaluating Novak Djokovic’s 2025 season so far isn’t straightforward. The former World No. 1 has delivered moments of brilliance—particularly at the Australian Open and Miami Open—demonstrating that he can still perform at an elite level. However, his consistency has noticeably declined compared to previous years.

His early exit from the Monte Carlo Masters, where he was defeated in straight sets by Alejandro Tabilo in the second round, raised eyebrows. Following that loss, Djokovic made comments that suggested deeper concerns about his form and energy levels.

Eyes on More Grand Slam Glory

At 37, Djokovic remains laser-focused on capturing at least one more Grand Slam title before hanging up his racquet. His next opportunity comes at Roland Garros, and he’ll use the upcoming Mutua Madrid Open and the Rome Masters as critical tune-ups.

However, not everyone believes the Serbian legend has a real shot in Paris.

Former American pro Steve Johnson, speaking on the Nothing Major podcast, was blunt in his assessment:

“It’s pretty simple, honestly. From my perspective, Djokovic only has a real chance at Wimbledon,” said Johnson, a former World No. 21.
“I just don’t see him being able to win a two-week tournament on red clay anymore—it’s too demanding at his age. Sure, he showed his quality at the Australian Open and Miami when he’s fully motivated, but he seems to run out of steam. That’s why I think Wimbledon is his best shot at another Slam.”

Djokovic Arrives in Madrid

Despite the doubts, Djokovic is already in Madrid, set to begin his campaign later this week. The 24-time Grand Slam champion was also spotted in the stands at a Real Madrid match, drawing attention from fans and the media alike.

As the tennis world debates his chances at Roland Garros, Djokovic continues to prepare quietly—perhaps with a statement comeback on the horizon.
