Jannik Sinner continues to make history as he strengthens his grip on the ATP World No. 1 ranking. Currently in his 46th consecutive week at the top, Sinner is on track to surpass the career-best streaks of tennis legends Rafael Nadal and John McEnroe in the coming months.

The 22-year-old Italian became the first player from his country to reach No. 1 in the ATP Rankings on June 10, 2024, after winning the French Open and ending Novak Djokovic’s reign at the summit.

Sinner’s current run ties him with Nadal and Bjorn Borg for 19th place on the all-time list for most consecutive weeks at No. 1. However, barring any unexpected results, he is expected to remain at the top through Roland Garros 2025—pushing his streak to a full year.

That would see him leapfrog Nadal’s best run of 56 straight weeks (June 2010–July 2011) and McEnroe’s 58-week reign (August 1981–September 1982), placing Sinner 11th on the all-time list.

Sinner’s closest competitors—Carlos Alcaraz and Alexander Zverev—have missed opportunities to close the gap. Alcaraz recently withdrew from the Madrid Open due to injury, and Zverev has also failed to capitalize on key tournaments, giving Sinner more breathing room.

As the tour shifts to grass, Sinner is poised to extend his lead. He will drop just 900 ranking points during the grass-court season, compared to Alcaraz’s 2,050 and Zverev’s 400. If he remains No. 1 through Wimbledon, his total will surpass both Nadal’s and McEnroe’s top streaks.

Though still some distance from breaking into the top 10 all-time streaks, Sinner’s steady dominance positions him as a serious threat to climb even higher in the months ahead.

All-Time Top 10 Consecutive Weeks at ATP No. 1:

  1. Roger Federer – 237
  2. Jimmy Connors – 160
  3. Ivan Lendl – 157
  4. Novak Djokovic – 122
  5. Pete Sampras – 102
  6. Novak Djokovic (2nd run) – 86
  7. Jimmy Connors (2nd run) – 84
  8. Pete Sampras (2nd run) – 82
  9. Ivan Lendl (2nd run) – 80
  10. Lleyton Hewitt – 75

While Federer’s legendary 237-week run remains the gold standard, Sinner’s consistency suggests he may one day challenge even that mark.
