Holger Rune, the world No. 10 and long-time rival of Carlos Alcaraz, shared positive feedback on Alcaraz’s Netflix documentary, *Carlos Alcaraz: My Way*, during the 2025 Italian Open. Speaking after his second-round win over Francisco Comesana (3-6, 6-3, 6-4) on May 9, Rune described the three-part series as “good” and beneficial for tennis fans, offering a rare glimpse into players’ lives off the court. “I actually talked to him a little bit about it in the locker rooms,” Rune told Tennis.com. “I think it’s nice for tennis fans, and—I said basically the same thing after the Netflix thing I did with the rest of the players—I think it’s great for the tennis fans to see more of what’s behind the scenes. It’s cool, because we’re all human.”[]

Rune, who has known Alcaraz since their junior days and played doubles with him in youth categories, highlighted the Spaniard’s evident talent from a young age. “In juniors, you could see his potential, his talent, everything,” he said, noting Alcaraz’s charisma and skill were already apparent. However, he playfully teased their differing approaches, saying, “I don’t want to say anything controversial, but I might have been a little bit more serious than him in juniors,” before adding, “He’s catching up and is very serious now!” Rune also acknowledged the universal struggles depicted in the documentary, stating, “You don’t feel the same motivation every day, but that’s normal,” emphasizing the human side of elite athletes.

The documentary, released on April 23, 2025, follows Alcaraz’s 2024 season, capturing his Roland Garros and Wimbledon triumphs alongside personal moments, such as partying in Ibiza and grappling with the pressures of fame. Rune, who defeated Alcaraz in the 2025 Barcelona Open final (7-6, 6-2), appreciated the series’ authenticity, despite its stage-managed elements, as noted by The Athletic. His comments reflect their mutual respect, forged through a rivalry showcased in Netflix’s *Break Point* Season 2, where Alcaraz predicted they’d have “battles like Djokovic, Federer, and Nadal.” Rune’s endorsement underscores the documentary’s value in humanizing Alcaraz, though he remains non-committal about starring in his own, saying, “Why not in the future? But right now, I’m okay.”
