Gerwyn Price has bluntly dismissed suggestions that Beau Greaves is being seriously considered for a Premier League Darts spot, branding the debate a “joke” and insisting that his own status among the sport’s elite should never be in doubt.

Greaves, 20, has continued her rapid rise, dominating the women’s circuit and winning multiple major titles, leading some fans and pundits to call for her inclusion in darts’ flagship weekly competition. While her talent has earned widespread admiration, Price believes the conversation has been blown out of proportion — and that his own résumé speaks loud enough without comparison.

“I don’t even think that’s a debate”

Reacting to the growing discussion, the former world champion didn’t hold back.

“I think that’s a joke, to be honest,” Price said with a laugh.
“Beau is a great player, unbelievable talent, but the Premier League is a different level. People talking like these spots are up for grabs or that my credentials should be questioned — I don’t even think that’s a debate.”

Price, a two-time Premier League champion and former world No.1, made it clear he has nothing but respect for Greaves — but stressed that dominance in the women’s game does not automatically translate to guaranteed Premier League inclusion.

“She’s got a long career ahead, and she’ll get her chance when the time is right,” he added.
“But to bring my name into it like I’m on a shaky peg? I’ve earned my place.”

The Greaves conversation gaining traction

Greaves has enjoyed a sensational run, becoming one of darts’ most exciting young stars. Her scoring power, stage confidence, and trophy haul have fuelled calls from fans who believe the Premier League should include female players based on form, not gender.

The PDC has previously shown willingness to expand pathways for women, with Fallon Sherrock and Lisa Ashton both featuring in major TV events in recent years — further driving debate around integration at the sport’s top level.

But for Price, the issue is not about opportunity, but timing — and merit on the biggest stages against the best players week in, week out.

A message with backing, not bitterness

Despite his blunt tone, Price was careful to underline his support for Greaves’ potential — just not premature hype placing her ahead of proven champions.

“She’s brilliant, no doubt. But the Premier League isn’t a participation award. It’s a reward for being at the top of the game.”

Far from feeling threatened, Price insisted the discussion itself shows how healthy darts is as a sport.

“If people are talking this much, it means the game’s in a good place. But let’s not start rewriting achievements — mine or anyone else’s.”

Competitive fire, familiar voice

Known for his honesty and sharp edge in interviews, Price’s comments carry the same intensity he brings to the oche — confident, uncompromising, and self-assured.

Whether or not Greaves ultimately makes the Premier League stage in years to come, one thing is certain:

Gerwyn Price still sees himself exactly where he believes he belongs — among darts’ untouchable elite.
