The glitz of the Premier League and the grandeur of the World Series may grab the headlines, but it is the Players Championship circuit where reputations are quietly built and careers can turn on a single afternoon. The Pro Tour swings back into action this week, with Players Championship 5 and 6 taking place in Leicester on Tuesday and Wednesday, as the marathon 34-event season continues to unfold.
This year’s circuit spans five venues across the calendar — Leicester Arena, which remains the spiritual home of the floor tour and hosts the lion’s share of events, alongside Robin Park Tennis Centre in Wigan, Arena MK in Milton Keynes, and Halle 39 in Hildesheim, Germany. Most intriguingly, 2026 also brings a first-ever visit to Maaspoort in Den Bosch, marking a welcome return for Pro Tour darts to the Netherlands after an extended absence.
As always, the cast list for any given event is something of a moving target. The Premier League players in particular tend to be selective about their appearances — Luke Littler and Luke Humphries have both indicated they will dip in and out rather than commit to the full schedule, with Wigan earmarked as a preferred stop for both men. The German dates in Hildesheim have also historically struggled to attract the full elite, with the travel logistics putting off some of the bigger names. For the remaining events, expect a rotating mix featuring Gian van Veen, Michael van Gerwen and Gerwyn Price at various points throughout the year.
The stakes, though, are very real. Every match, every result and every prize cheque feeds into the Pro Tour Order of Merit, which ultimately determines who earns a place at the Players Championship Finals in Minehead at the back end of the year. Last season served as a reminder that no one is immune — even Littler found himself in a scramble to qualify — and that subplot alone gives the grind a tension that can be easy to overlook until suddenly it matters enormously.
All four main boards are streamed live via PDCTV throughout each event, giving fans a direct window into the raw, unfiltered side of professional darts. Subscriptions are available on a monthly basis (£9.99), as an annual pass (£59.99), or via a short-use multi-day option for those who prefer flexibility.
