Luke Humphries fired back at critics after a social media post suggested he could miss out on a top-four finish in the Premier League Darts following this week’s action.

The world No. 2 didn’t hold back, responding angrily online after claims he was “giving in” to Luke Littler amid another winless night in the competition.

Despite yet to claim a nightly victory this season, Humphries has still reached one final in seven weeks and currently sits fourth in the standings. He has six wins so far and trails table-topper Jonny Clayton by eight points, with Littler just two behind the leader in second place.

But when a post questioned whether he could fall out of the top four, Humphries hit back hard on X.

“Whoever said this is absolutely clueless!!” he wrote. “I’m sure it was someone with bags of experience and not just some random person who’s never thrown a professional dart in their life…”

In a follow-up message, the 31-year-old doubled down, calling the remarks disrespectful.

“Disrespect to someone who absolutely dedicates his life to being the best version of himself and sportsman! Always someone that wants to dig the knife in when I’ve had not even a bad last six months, with four major finals.”

Humphries and Littler have developed a fierce rivalry since the teenager’s breakout at the 2024 World Championship, where Humphries edged a thrilling final. While Humphries exited at the semi-final stage in Dublin after losing to Gerwyn Price, Littler stole the spotlight with a stunning comeback.

The 17-year-old sensation roared back from 5-0 down to defeat Price, reeling off six consecutive legs in one of the most dramatic turnarounds of the season.

Speaking afterwards, Littler admitted even he couldn’t explain what had happened.

“I have no idea how I have done that,” he said. “When Gerwyn Price is on tops, he doesn’t usually miss. I thought I was gone… This is darts, things happen.”

The remarkable victory keeps Littler firmly in the title race as he continues to chase Clayton at the top, while Humphries remains under pressure to secure his place in the playoff spots.
