Serena Williams saddened every tennis fan and player in the world when she hung up the racket. The American player became a legend and retired after the US Open 2022. While she gave everything she could to the sport, many players were left with the dream of playing in a doubles match with her. Alycia Parks is one such player, who said she would opt for Williams as one of her partners.
Parks was interviewed recently at the Desert Smash charity event, where Hollywood celebrities link up with tennis stars. This year, EssentiallySports covered the event, where they met Parks.
Serena Williams is renowned for winning 23 grand slam titles in the singles WTA Tour. However, she has also won 14 grand slams in doubles, making her a legend in both aspects of the sport. Parks is one of the few who also noticed her talent in doubles and decided that she would pick Serena Williams as her possible doubles partner if she were still playing.
n an Exclusive with EssentiallySports at the Desert Smash event, Parks was asked about who she would like to play doubles with. Consequently, Parks asked, “Retired players don’t count, right?”. When given the affirmative, Parks said, “Okay, Serena Williams”, without missing a beat. The American player, who was initially unaware of the younger Williams, has become one of her biggest fans.
Alycia Parks showed her love for Serena Williams in the same interview with EssentiallySports as she picked the 23-time grand slam champion over her elder sister, Venus Williams.
Parks chooses the younger Williams
Both sisters have inspired other players over their careers and continue to do so. While it is difficult for people to choose between the two, Alycia Parks made her decision at the Desert Smash event in an exclusive with EssentiallySports. “I would say both of them, but I would say Serena because our game’s pretty similar to each other’s. Serve is definitely one of my weapons, so I’ll say Serena”.
