Jack Grealish left Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola stunned after impressing in a pre-season training drill.
The £100million signing from Aston Villa was left out of England’s Euro 2024 squad in a bold move from former manager Gareth Southgate.
As Grealish prepares for the new season with Man City, it appears that the he is ready to put recent disappointment behind him and hit the ground running.
The 28-year-old is currently with his teammates on City’s pre-season tour of the United States and impressed during one training ground drill, much to Guardiola’ rather’s surprise.
The quick-thinking drill saw the squad camped around the City boss who had a ball to hand.
Players were required to clap every time Guardiola bounced the ball on the ground but had to be vigilant as the Spaniard feigned his bounces.
As the task wore on, the group became smaller as players fell for Guardiola’s antics, but not Grealish who made it to the closing stages.
And that surprised Guardiola who took the opportunity to make a hilarious jibe at the star.
“Jack, you are here,” the City boss said to which Grealish replied: “Brainy, brainy”.
Guardiola then cheekily responded: “I didn’t expect.”
The exchange appeared to knock Grealish off his stride as he finally succumbed to his manager’s tricks.
Grealish featured during Manchester City’s first game of their US tour, a 4-3 defeat to Celtic on Tuesday night. Saniard, however, was more forthcoming on Ederson’s future at the club.
