Carlos Alcaraz’s 2025 So Far

Alcaraz is widely regarded as one of the toughest competitors in tennis today. His all-around skill set and physicality make him a formidable challenge for any opponent.

After a strong 2024 season, the Spanish star had his sights set on capturing his first Australian Open title. However, his campaign ended in the quarter-finals at the hands of Novak Djokovic. Now, he shifts his focus to the Rotterdam Open, hoping to claim another trophy and build momentum for the rest of the year.

Alcaraz’s arrival in Rotterdam was delayed after he chose to fly commercially rather than take a private jet. Upon landing, he endured a 90-minute wait for his luggage. According to Spanish tennis journalist Manuel Sanchez, Alcaraz had previously been offered a private jet deal for tournament travel but turned it down.

“A while ago, Alcaraz was offered a deal with a private airline to have a jet to travel to tournaments, and he rejected it,” Sanchez posted on X (translated from Spanish).

His coach, Juan Carlos Ferrero, also weighed in on Alcaraz’s humble approach, contrasting it with his past experience coaching Alexander Zverev.

“It was a big decision to take. It was the opposite of what I lived with Zverev in the past. It wasn’t a life of private jets and high-standard hotels anymore.”

Staying Grounded

Despite his growing fame and success, Alcaraz remains deeply appreciative of his family’s role in keeping him grounded. His parents and three brothers have played a crucial role in shaping his outlook, ensuring he remains humble no matter his achievements.

Speaking to The Sunday Times, Alcaraz acknowledged their influence:

“Well, my father and my mom have a good role. They try to pull me into the ground every time I win a tournament or I win an amount of money—I’m not gonna lie, I’m not gonna hide. They always stay there to put my feet on the ground.”

With his exceptional talent, work ethic, and humility, Alcaraz is more than just a rising star—he is a role model in the sport. As 2025 unfolds, tennis fans eagerly await what’s next for the young Spaniard.
