Italian Open Match Halted as Spectator Receives Medical Attention

Play at the Italian Open was briefly suspended on Monday morning during a round-of-32 clash between Alex de Minaur and Hugo Dellien, after a medical emergency in the stands. De Minaur was leading with an early break when the match was paused due to a spectator requiring urgent assistance.

The chair umpire initially announced a short delay of five to ten minutes, but play was ultimately halted for around 20 minutes as medical staff attended to the individual. After the situation was stabilized, both players were allowed a three-minute warm-up before resuming the match.

The break appeared to affect De Minaur’s momentum, with Dellien immediately capitalizing to break back and level the first set.
