Alex de Minaur currently doesn’t have a scheduled match after being beaten by Rafael Nadal in the second round of the Madrid Open.

After getting a bye through the first round as the 10th seed, De Minaur couldn’t beat the Spanish legend in a second successive tournament, going down 7-6(6) 6-3.

The Aussie lost his first service game of the match and despite breaking back in the next game, it set the tone for the contest.

After the contest reached a first-set tiebreak, Nadal streaked to a 6-2 lead and weathered a De Minaur fightback, before clinching the breaker 8-6.

The second set was much more straightforward as Nadal broke De Minaur in the first and last games to win it 6-3.

De Minaur will likely have a break before preparing himself for the Rome Masters, commencing on May 8.
