Alex de Minaur Sets Ambitious Goals for 2025 Season

Alex de Minaur has outlined his primary objectives for the 2025 season, aiming to build on his strong form and continue his rise in the ATP rankings.

The 25-year-old Australian No.1 has made significant strides over the past two years, solidifying his place inside the world’s top 10 and becoming a more frequent contender in the second week of Grand Slams. With a solid start to the new season, de Minaur is eager to push his game to new heights.

What Are De Minaur’s Goals for 2025?

Injuries disrupted parts of De Minaur’s 2024 campaign, particularly a hip injury sustained at Wimbledon during his match against Arthur Fils, which forced him to withdraw from the tournament. Despite dealing with lingering effects for the remainder of the season, he still managed to reach the US Open quarter-finals and qualify for the ATP Finals.

Now, after another quarter-final appearance at the Australian Open, De Minaur’s main focus is on staying healthy and maintaining consistency.

“I do feel like I’ve taken big steps in the right direction in the last year. I’ve improved as a player,” De Minaur told ATPTour.com.

“Making the quarterfinals in the last four Slams is something I don’t take lightly by any means. I think it’s a great platform to build on. I want more.”

Reflecting on the past season, De Minaur emphasized that despite the challenges, he was still able to produce impressive results.

“Last year, a lot happened. I was injured for a big part of it, yet I still managed to achieve some great results,” he added. “The goal this year is to stay healthy and maintain that same trajectory.”

“Hopefully, that takes me to bigger and better things, and I don’t think I’ve hit my ceiling yet. It’s exciting, and I’m looking forward to what this year has to offer.”

What’s Next for De Minaur?

De Minaur will next compete at the Rotterdam Open, marking his first tournament since his Australian Open quarter-final run.

He returns to the event after an impressive performance in 2024, where he defeated players like Andrey Rublev and Grigor Dimitrov en route to the final. However, he fell to Jannik Sinner, who was on a dominant unbeaten streak at the time.

In his 2025 Rotterdam campaign, De Minaur will open against David Goffin, who has struggled for form this year, having played in four tournaments without securing a win. The Aussie holds a perfect 5-0 head-to-head record against Goffin, dropping just one set in their past encounters.
