Tennis might just be the most stylish sport in the world right now, with its players easily ranking among the most fashionable athletes. From head-to-toe designer outfits to their stints as models in ad campaigns, tennis stars have also become known for sporting elegant timepieces on their wrists.

This year’s Australian Open has been no exception, serving as a runway for luxury watches and attire. One standout is top-ranked Australian Alex de Minaur, who is no stranger to high-quality fashion, as showcased by his 2024 Esquire digital cover. Ahead of his second-round victory over American Tristan Boyer, “The Demon” caught attention with a sleek, sophisticated watch that perfectly complemented his understated style.

The watch in question is the Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Tribute Chronograph in stainless steel (ref. Q389848J), crafted by the renowned Swiss watchmaker. Powered by the manually winding Jaeger-LeCoultre Calibre 860, the watch features a sunray-brushed blue-grey dial. Its standout detail is the skeletonized back dial, offering a glimpse of the intricate Calibre within the steel case.

As with all Reverso models, de Minaur’s watch is reversible, allowing the wearer to flip the dial. It includes hour and minute hands on both sides, with the back dial also displaying a retrograde 30-minute chronograph counter. Completing the look is a Fagliano Collection calf leather and canvas strap, adding to its elegance. The watch boasts a 52-hour power reserve and is water-resistant up to 30 meters.

On the court, de Minaur is in the best form of his career, having reached the quarterfinals in the last three Grand Slams. Now, he’s aiming to make it four in a row as he faces the unseeded Alex Michelsen. If victorious, de Minaur will secure his first Australian Open quarterfinal appearance, continuing his impressive rise, which began in 2024 and could propel him further into the ATP top ten. One thing is clear: his watch game is already on point, giving him the confidence to shine both on and off the court.
