Alexander Zverev, a three-time Grand Slam finalist and the 2020 Olympic champion, has demonstrated remarkable consistency on the professional tennis circuit. In a recent video segment for Bitpanda, a brand he represents, Zverev was tasked with assembling his ideal tennis player, a task that notably excluded Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer.

Within the video, Zverev specified the players he believed possessed the most exceptional individual strokes. He selected Carlos Alcaraz for the forehand, Novak Djokovic for the backhand, and John Isner for the serve. When prompted to identify the player with the most astute tactical acumen, Zverev humorously demurred, stating, “Definitely not me,” before playfully choosing his brother, Mischa Zverev, who retired from professional tennis in 2023 and appeared alongside him in the video.

Zverev’s admiration for Novak Djokovic is not a recent development. As early as 2021, he publicly acknowledged Djokovic as the greatest player of all time. “What Djokovic does for this sport is incredible. No one thought we would see something like what Rod Laver did all those years ago,” Zverev remarked. “I think Novak is going to try to break every single record in tennis. If you look at his statistics and his playing style, he is the best player of all time. There is no one like him,” Zverev asserted after his loss to Djokovic at the United States Open.

Zverev, currently twenty-seven years old, has amassed twenty-three Association of Tennis Professionals Tour titles, including victories at the 2018 and 2021 Association of Tennis Professionals Finals. He also secured an Olympic gold medal at the 2020 Tokyo Games and has reached three Grand Slam finals: the 2020 United States Open, the 2024 French Open, and the 2025 Australian Open, where he was defeated by defending champion Jannik Sinner.

Despite his numerous achievements, Zverev has yet to capture a Grand Slam title. However, he has claimed seven Masters one thousand titles, including two Italian Open titles and two Madrid Open titles.
