Andy Murray is set to venture into a new career path after announcing he will take to the stage for a tour discussing his storied career next year.

The British tennis icon retired from the sport this summer after the Paris Olympics, finishing with three Grand Slam titles after making his name as one of the most successful players the UK has ever produced.

Murray has often graced some of the biggest stages in tennis during his career – but will now be taking to a different type of stage entirely after announcing a theatre tour, where he will pull the curtain back on his biggest career successes and struggles.

In an announcement on social media, Murray posted a video showing him being filmed preparing for a stage show and sitting in the audience, with a voiceover of tennis presenter Sue Barker, revealing that broadcaster Andrew Cotter will be interviewing him.

The 37-year-old wrote: “I am stepping onto a different stage this Summer. Come and see me on my first ever theatre tour, with Andrew Cotter, in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Hammersmith and Wimbledon.”

A statement on Murray’s official website went into further detail about what the tour would entail, with Murray also set to reveal what’s next for him after hanging up his racquet.

“In conversation with sports broadcaster Andrew Cotter, they’ll recount intimate and untold moments from Andy’s career in this unforgettable live experience,” the statement said. “Andy’s journey is far from over. Join him LIVE as he tells his story of perseverance, growth and finding a path beyond the court, ready to serve up his next adventure.
