The stylish appearance came shortly after her emotional loss to Jelena Ostapenko in the Stuttgart Open final — a match that ended with Sabalenka making headlines for more than just her tennis.
In a humorous moment after the match, Sabalenka revealed she coped with the defeat by placing an extravagant order for a Porsche 911 GT3 RS, worth approximately $245,000.
“I think we’re going GTRS — purple, purple color (Viola Purple variant), full car. You know what, I’m so tired of losing in the finals, so I decided to go for the craziest car there is,” she said, laughing. “It’s going to be fast driving in Miami.”
Sabalenka also gave credit to Ostapenko in her post-match speech:
“First of all, I want to congratulate Jelena and her team on a great week. You were the better player today, and that’s all there is to it. Enjoy driving your beautiful car. Well, I’m glad I can afford this car too — after this final, I’m going to order one. That’s the only way for me.”
Now in Madrid for the Mutua Madrid Open, Sabalenka will look to rebound with a strong performance and continue her impressive run as the world’s No. 1.
