Behind the Scenes of Premier League Darts: Luke Littler Offers Exclusive Insight
Luke Littler, the rising star of darts, has shared a rare behind-the-scenes look at the world of Premier League Darts, revealing how he and his fellow players prepare for their matches. Littler, who has become the face of the sport since his breakout in 2023, has shaken up the darts scene with his impressive talent.
At just 17, Littler made history by winning the World Championship earlier this year, defeating Michael van Gerwen in the final. Now, as he sets his sights on a second consecutive Premier League title, Littler continues to make waves, having already bested Luke Humphries in last year’s final at the O2 Arena.
Although Littler was virtually unknown just two years ago, he has quickly established himself as a major force in the sport. But despite his newfound fame, Littler remains grounded and is not intimidated by the competition.
In an interview with Sportsboom, Littler was asked about whether any players, particularly Gerwyn Price—who holds a strong record against him—attempt to get in his head. He responded, “I don’t take note of what other players do, especially when we’re throwing over the bull. Gerwyn just keeps to himself, just like I do. We all have a laugh, most of the time.”
Littler also weighed in on the ongoing debate about player burnout, with rival Luke Humphries recently commenting that the current schedule has left him feeling “emotionless.” Littler acknowledged the challenges of the sport, saying, “In darts, you’re on your own, week in, week out. It’s a long 17 weeks, with the Pro Tour and European Tour in between. We have to get on with it.”
Looking ahead to Thursday evening’s match in Manchester, Littler will aim to break a six-match losing streak against Price. However, he insists that his focus is not solely on defeating Price. “I don’t get overly motivated to beat him, but I obviously want to win. I won’t go on stage thinking, ‘I need to win this,’” he said.
With the Premier League Darts competition heating up, Littler’s ability to balance intense competition with a relaxed attitude continues to make him one of the sport’s most intriguing figures.
