America’s young tennis star Ben Shelton will also miss the competition. The 21-year-old announced a statement where he explained that he would like to take a break after Wimbledon to prepare for the US Open. “I’ll be in Europe for two months before Wimbledon and then, you know, I want to prepare and really prepare for the US Open,” he said. “So having to go back to Europe to play on the clay, a different surface, you know, messes up some tournaments leading up to the US Open I think it’s difficult in the tennis this schedule.”
