Bianca Andreescu has confirmed her long-awaited return to the WTA Tour during the upcoming clay court season. After nearly six months on the sidelines due to injury, the former US Open champion will make her comeback at the WTA 250 Rouen Open, set to take place from April 14 to April 20.

The 24-year-old Canadian had shown promising form in late 2024, reaching the Japan Open quarterfinals, where she defeated Mei Yamaguchi before advancing past Beatriz Haddad Maia due to retirement. However, her run was cut short by Katie Boulter, Britain’s No. 1.

Andreescu’s latest setback came after undergoing an emergency appendectomy, which delayed her 2025 season debut. Previously, she had battled a nine-month absence due to a back injury, returning only in May 2024.

Currently ranked World No. 129, Andreescu has no ranking points to defend until the French Open, offering her a chance to rebuild momentum. The Rouen Open draw is led by World No. 18 Elina Svitolina, with other notable players including Emma Raducanu (No. 48) and Sofia Kenin (No. 44).

With injuries hampering her career since 2019, Andreescu’s return will be closely watched as she looks to reclaim her place among the WTA’s elite.
