Carlos Alcaraz shared his thoughts on Novak Djokovic’s injury after their Australian Open quarterfinal clash, in which the Serbian came from behind to secure a 4-6, 6-4, 6-3, 6-4 win. Alcaraz, who was questioned about Djokovic’s injury during the match, acknowledged that Djokovic seemed to struggle during the second set but didn’t want to speculate on whether the injury was genuine or not.

“I think everybody saw in the second set he was struggling a little bit [with] moving,” Alcaraz said. “I don’t know if it was more running to the forehand or running to the backhand, but obviously he was struggling. Then the third and fourth set, I didn’t see anything bad from him.”

Alcaraz clarified that while he didn’t think Djokovic was faking the injury, it was clear that Djokovic was able to bounce back in the later sets, showing his trademark resilience. “I’m not saying, like, he made a show. I’m just saying that, I don’t know, it’s obvious and everybody saw it that he was struggling in the second set. Then the third and fourth set he showed he was really good.”

Despite the challenging moments for Djokovic, Alcaraz recognized his opponent’s ability to recover and continue playing at a high level, which contributed to Djokovic’s victory.
