Carlos Alcaraz updates on his ankle injury
The Spanish tennis player’s statements on the sprain he suffered in training
“I stopped as a precaution. I didn’t feel comfortable enough to continue training, with the risk that the situation would get worse. A few hours later I felt fine, my foot is fine. Tomorrow I will try to train again at 100% without thinking about it. It’s something that hasn’t made me worry about my participation in the tournament since Tuesday. I was angry because I don’t like to stop training, I know that in a day or two I will be in top condition.”
These were the words released by Carlos Alcaraz on the media day of the US Open, on the eve of the New York Major that starts today, Monday 26 August.
Alcaraz updated fans, and the media themselves, at a press conference, on the sprained ankle he suffered in training with Francisco Cerundolo. After the episode, the Spanish tennis player spoke with his team and made the decision to leave the court immediately to avoid further consequences.

The young Spanish champion, who triumphed this year at Roland Garros and Wimbledon, arrived in New York with only one match played on hard court after the grass in London and the Paris Olympics, considering how he was beaten by Gael Monfils in three sets at the Cincinnati Open.
“It’s something that doesn’t matter to me. Obviously I would have liked to play more matches on hard court before the US Open, but it’s something that doesn’t affect me. If I look back, for example, I didn’t play many matches on clay before Roland Garros and I still got a great result. Then the same with Wimbledon, so I’m not worried about not having many matches on this surface,” he stressed.
Yesterday, it became clear that Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz are not friends.
I don’t want to see any Sinner fans supporting Alcaraz after what he said yesterday, it was a disgrace.
I dare Alcaraz to show up in the semifinals of the US Open…
