During a recent interview, Carlos Alcaraz addressed whether he feels envious of fellow tennis star Jannik Sinner’s extended time away from the sport following Sinner’s suspension. The 22-year-old Italian previously spoke about enjoying a more relaxed lifestyle during his three-month hiatus, training with less intensity and spending more time off the court.

When asked if he’d like a similar break, Alcaraz didn’t hesitate:

“I would really like to have a month without doing anything, really,” Alcaraz admitted, as reported by UbiTennis. “We play for 11 months straight with barely any breaks—maybe three days at most, or a week if we’re lucky.”

The Spaniard emphasized the toll of the relentless tennis calendar, both physically and mentally:

“Playing at such a high level for so long with such a strong commitment is exhausting. I think rest is not only necessary for us players but also beneficial for the sport and the fans. It allows us to come back refreshed and play even better.”

Alcaraz also spoke more broadly about the unpredictability of tennis, echoing the emotional and mental strain players endure on tour:

“No match is ever certain—not even against someone ranked #100 or #150. You never know what’s going on in a player’s life—off-court stress, the pressure of rankings, personal matters. All these things can weigh heavily when you’re competing.”

Despite being one of the sport’s rising stars, Alcaraz continues to show maturity beyond his years, advocating for better balance between competition and well-being.
