Carlos Alcaraz’s fellow ATP stars believe he’d be a great fit for the Love Island villa, with several naming him as their top pick for the reality dating show.

During a lighthearted segment, ATP Tour players were asked which three of their rivals they would send to Love Island. The responses sparked some amusing choices, with world No. 30 Matteo Berrettini quick to nominate Alcaraz.

“I would say Grigor [Dimitrov], good one. Andrea Vavassori—he likes to be on an island with a lot of girls. And then Carlitos Alcaraz—I think he’s going to have fun,” Berrettini told the ATP.

Alcaraz’s love life has been a topic of playful speculation. The Spaniard previously joked that, after seeing so many tennis players get engaged in the off-season, he thought it might be “his turn” despite still being single.

Meanwhile, Stefanos Tsitsipas was another popular pick, though some players hesitated to include him out of respect for his girlfriend, WTA world No. 11 Paula Badosa. “Stef, I’m not going to do that. Paula is not going to be happy,” Berrettini laughed.

However, Dimitrov didn’t hold back, selecting Tsitsipas along with Britain’s Jack Draper and Poland’s Hubert Hurkacz. “I’m a good wingman. I go Jack Draper, Hubie Hurkacz, maybe I take Stefanos—Paula will be mad,” he joked. “I take the pretty boys. I mean, they’re studs, look at them. Two meters tall, have the swagger going on, young.”

Australian Alex de Minaur was also convinced that Alcaraz would thrive in the villa, saying, “Matteo Berrettini, first one that comes to mind. Carlitos Alcaraz, Dimitrov. Bang.”

Berrettini even threw himself into the mix, happily volunteering to enter Love Island as a bombshell. Meanwhile, Arthur Fils nominated his friend, 6’8” powerhouse Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard, saying, “Gio—just because he’s my friend and that’s the only guy I want to put under the bus,” with a grin.

With his infectious energy and easygoing nature, Alcaraz may just be a perfect match for the villa—if he ever swaps his tennis racket for reality TV.
