Coco Gauff Reflects on Loss to Belinda Bencic: “I Let Her Dictate”
Coco Gauff has opened up about her recent defeat to Belinda Bencic, admitting that she struggled to take control of the match. The world No. 3 suffered a surprising loss against the Swiss star, marking a setback in her otherwise impressive 2025 season.
Speaking about the match, Gauff acknowledged that Bencic’s aggressive style kept her on the back foot.
“I let her dictate too much,” Gauff admitted. “She played really well, took time away from me, and I just couldn’t find my rhythm.”
Despite the defeat, the reigning US Open champion remains focused on learning from the experience and improving her game.
“Every match is a lesson. I’ll go back, analyze what went wrong, and come back stronger for the next tournament,” she added.
