Coco Gauff’s Ex-Coach Brad Gilbert Blasts Donald Trump Over Tariff Impact
Brad Gilbert, the former coach of Coco Gauff and a respected figure in the tennis world, recently voiced his frustration over the economic impact of former U.S. President Donald Trump’s tariffs, which he believes are wreaking havoc on the markets.
“Beyond frustrating—that word ‘tariffs’ and what it’s doing to the markets… disheveled morning,” Gilbert posted, expressing his concern on social media.
While Gilbert’s comments veered into politics, he also spoke glowingly about his former student, Coco Gauff, drawing a financial analogy to praise her progress and potential.
“She’s accomplished a lot, and the great thing is, she still has a huge upside at 20,” Gilbert said. “If she were a stock, I’d still give her a ‘buy rating.’ She’s a great kid who works incredibly hard. Good things are going to happen for her.”
Gilbert coached Gauff during part of her breakout 2024 season, which included deep runs at major tournaments. His recent comments reflect both his ongoing belief in her growth and his broader concerns beyond the tennis court.
