Sky Sports Crash Infuriates Darts Fans During Premier League Night Five

Darts fans were left fuming as Sky Sports suffered repeated technical failures during night five of the Premier League in Brighton. The highly anticipated event featured reigning champion Luke Littler among a star-studded lineup, but many viewers were met with frustration rather than action.

Those tuning into Sky Sports Main Event were instead greeted with a white error screen that read: “We’re really sorry for the temporary fault.” While the broadcast returned just in time for the opening clash between Gerwyn Price and Michael van Gerwen, the disruptions continued throughout the night.

The coverage of Littler’s match against Chris Dobey was particularly frustrating for viewers, as the broadcast frequently cut out, switching to black screens or untimely ad breaks at key moments.

Fans Vent Their Frustration on Social Media

Darts fans quickly took to social media to voice their anger. On X (formerly Twitter):

  • @beerhunter71 slammed the broadcaster: “Come on @SkySports this is a joke now. The amount of money you charge us, we expect to be able to watch the darts without constant disruption!”
  • @BinnyPiper joked: “Someone in Brighton, plug Sky Sports back in at the Premier League darts! 😂”
  • @MarcBhafc added: “Sky Sports having an absolute mare with the darts tonight. Someone sort those cables out.”

Sky Sports Attempts to Apologize—Only for the Feed to Cut Again

Presenter Emma Paton issued an on-air apology, saying:

“Apologies if you have been losing picture on Sky Sports Main Event or Sky Sports +. We’ve been experiencing technical difficulties.”

However, when she attempted to apologize again later, the feed cut out mid-sentence, switching to yet another advert.

Commentator Wayne Mardle also tried to reassure viewers, stating: “We apologise if you’re experiencing any malfunction or picture breakup. It will be fixed momentarily, I assure you.” Ironically, the broadcast cut out again immediately after.

Despite Broadcast Issues, the Action Continued

Despite the frustrating interruptions, the matches went on. Van Gerwen secured victory over Price, while Littler defeated Dobey, though his performance was not at his best.

Sky Sports pundit Mark Webster noted:

“Dobey will be bitterly disappointed. That version of Luke Littler doesn’t come along very often, so you have to take your opportunity. World-class players can win even when they’re not at their best.”

Fans will be hoping for a smoother broadcast when Night Six takes place in Nottingham next Thursday—hopefully, without the technical chaos.
