Darts legend claims Luke Littler is playing ‘sloppy’ and urges rivals to ‘do some damage’ in ominous message
Luke Littler may need other players to inflict some serious damage to his confidence if anyone hopes to stop him from dominating the sport.
Three-time world champion John Part believes “The Nuke” will remain incredibly difficult to beat unless his rivals find a way to shake his self-belief.
At just 19, Littler has already captured nearly every major title available, with only the World Cup and the European Championship missing from his collection. His next challenge comes against Gerwyn Price in the Premier League Darts in Nottingham on Thursday night.
Part explained that unless someone truly disrupts Littler’s mindset, his confidence will only continue to grow.
He said the real danger is that Littler already believes he can win even when he is not at his very best. According to Part, the teenager is still collecting titles despite playing below his top level at times, which makes the situation even more worrying for the rest of the field.
Part also praised Littler’s ability to manage matches. Even when he looks slightly sloppy, he still finds the right moments to deliver crucial darts and get the job done. However, he added that Littler often appears far from perfect during games.
That, Part suggested, might give other players some encouragement. The opponents he has beaten will remember those moments and could return more determined next time, believing they were not completely outclassed.
Littler recently cruised to victory on a Premier League night in Cardiff before comfortably winning the UK Open just four days later.
Part said that is exactly what a world No.1 should aim to do — control matches so thoroughly that opponents rarely even get a chance to finish a leg. Ideally, he explained, the only checkout opportunities rivals should see are huge shots like a 161.
Even so, Part believes the current situation could actually benefit Littler. If no one manages to hand him a convincing defeat soon, his confidence may continue rising — and that could make him even harder to stop in the months ahead.
