Ricky Evans once revealed he played an entire tournament with NO pants on.

‘Rapid Ricky’ made the final of the Dutch Darts Championship in 2018, going commando for three matches during his remarkable run.

The Kettering thrower eventually lost 8-5 to Ian White in the final, but the shocking wardrobe mishap went completely unnoticed at the time.

Evans admits he isn’t entirely sure what caused the situation, although a questionable meal and a rush of adrenaline likely played their part.

Speaking about it, he explained: “I got to the final once on the European Tour in Maastricht and I played Ian White.

“I played with no pants on. I don’t really want to go into detail because we had food and I didn’t really help myself.

“I shouldn’t have done what I did and I had no spares. So I took them off, threw them in the bin, and played the next three matches without any boxers.”

Evans also recalled that his manager at the time, along with Stephen Bunting, had stopped for food as they prepared to head home, while he opted for something like McDonald’s — which didn’t sit well under the pressure of competition.

“I think I might have had McDonald’s and maybe the adrenaline or pressure of winning games. I thought it was safe, but it backfired,” he added.

Despite the unusual circumstances, Evans insists he actually felt comfortable at the oche and believes it may even have helped his performances.

“It was brilliant, a bit of air,” he joked. “I remember one of the games my zip wouldn’t go up and I thought, this is just what I need.”

During that run, Evans defeated players including Joe Cullen and William O’Connor, all while playing without underwear.

“I was thinking, I’d love to win this today with no boxers on,” he said.

Although he fell short in the final, the story remains one of the most bizarre and memorable moments on the darts circuit.

Evans has since enjoyed a solid career, including a strong 2025 season where he reached the quarter-finals of the Grand Slam of Darts and a Players Championship event.

The world No.46 also made it to the third round of the PDC World Darts Championship, where he was eventually beaten by Charlie Manby.
