Cameron Menzies, a 35-year-old Scottish darts player and world No. 36, has quit his day job as a plumber to focus full-time on his darts career, a decision influenced by his strong 2025 season and the competitive edge he gains from practicing with his partner, Fallon Sherrock, who he admits often “batters” him in training. According to a May 20, 2025, report by Express.co.uk, Menzies resigned last month after a career-defining year, including two Players Championship titles and a quarterfinal run at the Grand Slam of Darts. He told Sky Sports, “I was only working one day here and there, and it just got to the point where I had to make a decision,” adding that he could return to plumbing if needed.[](https://www.express.co.uk/sport/othersport/2057557/Darts-Cameron-Menzies-plumber-Fallon-Sherrock)

Menzies, who has been dating Sherrock since 2021, credits her for elevating his game, particularly through their intense practice sessions at home in Milton Keynes. “Quite often she batters me,” he said, noting that Sherrock, dubbed the “Queen of the Palace” for her historic 2019 PDC World Championship wins, pushes him with her high averages and pressure performance. “She’s a very good player, and it has obviously helped my game,” he told Sky Sports, though he humorously admitted losing to her means doing household chores like cooking dinner. Their competitive dynamic, which began after meeting in an online darts league and bonding over a KFC date, has made them darts’ power couple, with Sherrock’s 19 Women’s Series titles and 2022 Women’s World Matchplay crown complementing Menzies’ rise.

Despite his progress, Menzies faced setbacks, including a tearful first-round exit to Leonard Gates at the 2024 World Championship, where he was booed by the Alexandra Palace crowd, prompting condemnation from Ally McCoist for the “unacceptable” abuse. His decision to go full-time follows a viral moment at the 2023 World Championship, where he worked a plumbing shift before competing. With Sherrock’s support and his recent successes, Menzies aims to emulate Scottish darts legends like Gary Anderson, targeting a strong showing at the 2025 PDC World Championship, where both he and Sherrock are set to compete.
