**Cameron Menzies Quits Plumbing to Focus on Darts, Admits to ‘Getting Battered’ by Fallon Sherrock**

Cameron Menzies, the world No. 36 darts player, has officially left his plumbing job to pursue a full-time career in darts, a decision influenced by his competitive practice sessions with partner Fallon Sherrock, who he admits regularly “batters” him. The 35-year-old Scot, speaking to Sky Sports, revealed he quit his job in March 2025 after a strong start to the year, including a Players Championship title win in April. Menzies, who previously balanced plumbing shifts with professional darts, often worked mornings before tournaments, once going viral for returning to work after a successful 2023 World Championship run. “I was only working one day here and there, and it got to the point where I had to make a decision,” he said, noting he hopes to return to plumbing if darts doesn’t pan out within two years.[](https://www.express.co.uk/sport/othersport/2057557/Darts-Cameron-Menzies-plumber-Fallon-Sherrock)

Menzies credits Sherrock, the “Queen of the Palace” and a trailblazer in women’s darts, for elevating his game since they began dating in 2021. The couple, who met on the darts circuit and bonded over a KFC date, frequently practice together, with Sherrock’s prowess pushing Menzies to improve. “Quite often she batters me, so it’s good for me to practice against her because she’s a very good player,” he told Yardbarker. Their sessions, sometimes lasting hours via Zoom during the pandemic, have been pivotal, with Menzies noting, “As soon as we started dating, my darts took an extra step up.” Sherrock, the first woman to win a PDC World Championship match in 2019, has 19 Women’s Series titles and the 2022 Women’s World Matchplay.[]

Despite his progress, including a Grand Slam quarter-final in 2024 and two Players Championship runner-up finishes in 2025, Menzies acknowledges Sherrock’s superior stage presence, saying she has “bigger balls” under pressure. However, Sherrock’s health struggles with kidney disease, diagnosed in 2014, have led her to announce a potential break from darts in 2026, limiting her 2025 appearances, including a first-round World Championship loss to Ryan Meikle. Menzies, also eliminated early at the 2025 Worlds, aims to climb into the PDC top 16, inspired by Sherrock’s mentorship and their competitive household dynamic.[
