Vincent van der Voort Criticizes ‘Too Many Luke Littler Fanboys’ in Premier League Darts

Darts star Vincent van der Voort has voiced concerns over the Premier League lineup, claiming there are “too many Luke Littler fanboys” in the competition. Littler, the defending champion, has dominated the season, sitting eight points clear at the top after consecutive wins in Cardiff and Newcastle.

Van der Voort criticized players for being overly friendly with Littler, offering fist-bumps and smiles mid-match. He suggested that someone like Dirk van Duijvenbode, known for his fierce competitive spirit, would bring more intensity to the tournament.

“Compared to some of the players in it now, I’d much rather watch Dirk,” Van der Voort said on the Darts Draait Door podcast. “Some players act like the perfect son-in-law, but that doesn’t bring excitement. There are too many Littler fanboys right now. Dirk steps up to compete and does everything to win.”

This follows recent criticism of Stephen Bunting and Nathan Aspinall, who were seen engaging in friendly exchanges with Littler during matches. Aspinall later admitted he needed to show more aggression, saying, “I showed him too much respect that night. I got some criticism for being too nice, and I agree—I need to be more ruthless.”

As Littler continues his dominance, calls for a more competitive and intense Premier League lineup may only grow louder.
