Darts star who claims to have made 147 break stops by Snooker Tour Championship for few frames ahead of Premier League
Gerwyn Price made a surprise appearance at the Snooker Tour Championship, stepping away from the oche to pot a few frames and show off a different side of his sporting talent.
The darts star took time out ahead of Night 9 of the Premier League Darts in Manchester, giving fans a glimpse of his cue skills alongside his well-known dominance on the dartboard.
Price, currently ranked No.9 in the world, has long been known to enjoy snooker and is more than capable with a cue in hand, boasting an impressive level of ability away from darts.
The Welshman has even claimed in the past that he recorded a maximum 147 break—the highest possible achievement in snooker.
However, there has never been any official evidence to back up that claim, with Price explaining that his mobile phone had supposedly died at the time, meaning the remarkable feat was never captured.
Other reports suggest that the “Iceman’s” highest recorded break is actually 108, which is still a highly respectable score and further proof of his all-round cue sport talent.
He demonstrated that ability once again at Manchester Central, where the Snooker Tour Championship is currently being staged, confidently knocking in shots and showing solid technique.
During his appearance, Price was also asked for his opinion on one of the sport’s most debated questions—whether a 147 break is harder to achieve than a nine-darter in darts.
He said: “I’d say a 147 is harder, because I know how tough snooker is.
“But then a snooker player might say a nine-darter is harder, but I’d definitely say a 147 is harder than a nine-darter,” highlighting his respect for both disciplines while giving the edge to snooker’s ultimate achievement.
