‘Embarrassing’- Darts icon risks Phil Taylor fury with controversial comments on Luke Littler
Bobby George Sparks Controversy with Bold Luke Littler vs. Phil Taylor Claim
Darts legend Bobby George has made waves with his latest comments, suggesting that Luke Littler would “slaughter” Phil Taylor in a match—even if Taylor were at his peak. George even went as far as to say that such a contest would be “almost embarrassing” for the 16-time world champion.
Littler, just 18 years old, has rapidly risen to the top of the sport, already securing a World Darts Championship title after defeating Michael van Gerwen in January. He then followed up with a stunning Premier League victory in 2024, overcoming Luke Humphries in the final.
While Taylor is widely regarded as the greatest darts player of all time, George believes the veteran wouldn’t stand a chance against Littler. Speaking on the talkBULL podcast, he explained:
“Look, he [Taylor] was a great player—you have your day. But you get to a certain age in your sport where your body doesn’t allow you to play as you used to. If he played Littler now, he’d get slaughtered. It’d be most embarrassing.”
Should Taylor Face Littler? George Says No
The idea of a Taylor vs. Littler showdown has gained traction in recent months due to Littler’s meteoric rise, but George strongly advises against it.
“The thing is, he’s retired. He’s played in the Seniors, and he can’t even win in the Seniors. So playing a guy that’s one of the greatest players in the world at this time? He’s got no chance. If he does it for the money, then alright, take the bees and honey. But if an 18-year-old beats him up, that’s all people will remember. The young boy is just too good.”
Taylor’s Response: No Interest in a Match
Despite the growing discussion, Taylor himself has no intention of taking on Littler. Speaking to GB News last month, the darts icon made his stance clear.
“No, absolutely not,” Taylor responded when asked about a potential match.
In a lighthearted moment, he even joked about Littler’s competitive nature outside of darts:
“What’s that game where you’ve got to push the blocks out? Jenga. He beat me at that! The little b*****! But he’s a lovely lad, though.”*
With Littler’s dominance in full swing, comparisons to Taylor’s legendary career are inevitable. But for now, it seems a head-to-head between the two remains nothing more than a fantasy matchup.
