Emma Raducanu has said which WTA tournament she will next appear at after another injury scare in South Korea.

The 2021 US Open champion hasn’t caught much of a break since that glittering New York run.

Emma Raducanu was sidelined for eight months last year after being forced onto the hospital bed for three surgeries on her wrists and ankles.

Despite a valiant showing at Wimbledon, Raducanu’s North American hard court swing barely existed, with the Brit not competing in both Toronto and Cincinnati.

A first-round exit at the US Open to Sofia Kenin left little to be desired before Raducanu’s subsequent run in Asia saw her limping off once again.

Emma Raducanu reveals Hong Kong comeback

Raducanu managed her way through an erratic opener in Seoul to Peyton Stearns, before her following match saw her dump out eight seed Yue Yuan.

However, having struggled with a foot injury during the match, her victory was somewhat tainted by yet another question mark.

Against top seed and eventual finalist Daria Kasatkina, Raducanu lost the first set before hobbling off and eventually retiring from the match.

Despite Kasatkina sending the Brit a classy message, the Raducanu’s injury update counted herself out of several upcoming events.

However, as revealed on X on Thursday, Raducanu announced her comeback: “Hello everyone, it’s Emma Raducanu here. I really cannot wait to come and play the Prudential Women’s Hong Kong Open.

“It’s my first time playing the WTA event there, but I was there in December last year and I really loved the city. So I’m very much looking forward to coming and I hope to see you all there in October.”

Emma Raducanu needs a fast start after her injury

With Raducanu’s return confirmed, it will be her debut at the WTA 250 event, starting on October 28th.

She had initially hoped to come back for the Ningbo Open, but then was also ruled out of the tournament in Hangzhou Bay.

Despite speculation she might be out for the season, Raducanu is still set to play at the BJK Cup finals in November.

With hints of form often coming before an injury set-back, Raducanu will need to both play herself in carefully, but also try and hot the ground running – a difficult balance to strike.
