Emma Raducanu has received the green light to work with Mark Petchey as her part-time coach at Wimbledon this summer. Petchey, a TV commentator for the Tennis Channel, previously worked with Raducanu and was part of her team at the Miami Open.

The British No.2 recently reached the quarter-finals of the Miami Open without an official coach, marking her best performance since her 2021 US Open triumph. Although her run ended with a 6-4, 6-7, 6-2 loss to Jessica Pegula—where she required a medical timeout—her strong showing will see her return to the world’s top 50 for the first time since 2022.

Raducanu had briefly worked with coach Vlado Platenik before parting ways with him prior to the tournament. Platenik claimed he could have helped Raducanu return to the world’s top 20 within weeks, but she now faces a decision on her next coaching move.

Despite Tennis Channel analysts like Lindsay Davenport and Paul Annacone having coached players before, the network has no issues with Petchey working with Raducanu during the clay and grass seasons.

Following her Miami Open exit, Raducanu reflected on her performance:
“Despite losing today, I can take some positives from this week. I just need to take a step back, reevaluate, and figure things out before making a plan.”

She emphasized the importance of having a familiar team around her, stating that feeling relaxed and happy was key to her recent success.

Raducanu’s next appearance will be for Great Britain in the Billie Jean King Cup qualifiers in April, followed by the WTA 250 Open de Rouen, skipping the WTA 500 Porsche Open, where she has previously competed.

Her Miami Open match against Pegula took place in extreme humidity, with Raducanu experiencing dizziness and requiring medical attention for her blood pressure and pulse. Despite the setback, she remained positive, saying:
“I played some really good tennis, and it was nice to have that feeling again. The fighting spirit and competitiveness—I think that’s something I rediscovered this week.
