Emma Raducanu has made an intriguing decision to enter the WTA 250 Open Capfinances Rouen Metropole, marking her first appearance at the event. Traditionally, she competes in the higher-tier WTA 500 Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in Stuttgart, where she has twice reached the quarter-finals.

This shift could offer Raducanu a better opportunity to advance deeper into the tournament. The field in Rouen includes top players such as Elina Svitolina, Sofia Kenin, Maria Sakkari, and home favorite Caroline Garcia. Former world No. 11 Alizé Cornet has also received a wildcard to make a comeback from retirement.

Before Rouen, Raducanu will represent Great Britain in the Billie Jean King Cup qualifiers from April 10-12 against Germany and the Netherlands. Her increasing commitment to clay-court events suggests she is aiming for a stronger season on the surface, having previously played only two WTA clay events last year.

This latest addition to her schedule indicates a focused approach to refining her clay-court game ahead of the European season.
