Emma Raducanu has reportedly been ruffling feathers at Wimbledon, irking traditionalists with what’s been dubbed a “provocative pink kit.” The All England Lawn Tennis & Croquet Club enforces a famously rigid dress code, mandating that players and members wear nearly all-white attire the moment they step onto its sacred grounds. To be clear, “white” means pure white—Wimbledon’s rules explicitly exclude off-white or cream shades (full details on the attire policy below).

Yet Raducanu has been flouting this tradition at SW19, much to the chagrin of club members. According to Harriet Kean of the *Daily Mail*, the 22-year-old has been “outraging members” by practicing in a bold pink outfit, seemingly wearing “whatever she wants.” The 2021 US Open champion’s actions have drawn accusations of “arrogance,” with one member venting to the paper: “It’s so unfair. Emma shows up in pink while everyone else follows the all-white rule. Who does she think she is? Winning the US Open doesn’t give her a free pass.”

Despite a packed 2025 schedule that kicked off in Australia, followed by stops in Singapore, the Middle East, and now the U.S., Raducanu has squeezed in multiple trips back to England for practice. She logged significant time on Wimbledon’s courts preparing for Indian Wells, only to bow out in the first round of the WTA 1000 event in California. Ranked No. 55, her next stop is the Miami Open, after which she’s expected to return to the UK—and likely Wimbledon—for more training. Whether she’ll sport the pink kit again is anyone’s guess.

Calls to loosen Wimbledon’s all-white policy have grown louder in recent years, but the All England Club remains steadfast. Here’s the full dress code for The Championships, covering both practice and matches:

1) Players must wear suitable tennis attire that’s almost entirely white* upon entering the court surround.
2) White excludes off-white or cream.
3) No solid blocks or panels of color allowed*. A single color trim (max 10mm) around the neckline and sleeve cuffs is permitted.
4) Color in patterns counts as a solid mass and must stay within the 10mm limit. Logos made from material variations or patterns aren’t allowed.
5) Shorts, skirts, and tracksuit bottoms must be fully white, except for a 10mm trim along the outer seam.
6) Caps (including underbills), headbands, bandanas, wristbands, and socks must be white, with a 10mm trim exception.
7) Shoes must be nearly all-white, including soles and laces. Large logos are discouraged. Grass-court shoes must meet Grand Slam standards—no pimples around the toe edges, and foxing must be smooth.
8) Visible undergarments (including from sweat) must be white with a 10mm trim max, though women can wear solid mid/dark-colored undershorts, no longer than their shorts or skirt.
